The Best of Wild Life

Title:The Best of Wildlife Art

General Topic:  Wild Life

For lovers of wildlife and landscape this book should be part of everyone's reference material. The animals have been dipected in some very interesting settings in which the details of the landscape become a secandary focal point without distracting from the main subject. The posture of the animals make them part of their natural environment.

wildlife

Name of book: Wildlife
Author: Carl Brenders
ISBN: 0-8109-3977-0
General topic: Pictures of Carl Brenders Wildlife Paintings
Review: Photos of 50 of Carl’s Wildlife paintings, along with a short story about each painting.  Just looking at his paintings makes me want to paint wildlife.  Carl’s detailing on animals, trees, birds, rocks, fruit, anything you would see outdoors is incredible.  This book is not a ‘how to book’ but an inspiration of the beauty of capturing realism through a paint brush.  Brender’s was influenced by the old Flemish and Dutch masters of the sixteenth-century.

Review:  This author is a well known artist who has received prestigious awards and much recognition for his works.  He has quite a few painting and reference books out. This particular one is a beautiful reference picture book with photos that can be copied for your own use.  The are more than 600 clear, crisp photographs showing detail and accurate color.  I love his book Dedication: “To God, for blessing me with just enough talent to make a living out of something I love.”

Backyard Birding

Title:  Backyard Birding
Author:  Terence Lindsey. R.G. Turner, Jr.
ISBN: 1-876778-90-3
General Topic:  Bird Reference

Review:  I think the purpose of this book is for bird lovers.  It discusses birds and their natural surroundings, gardening to attract wildlife, how to recognize individual birds, and so on.  But for artists, this is a beautiful reference book on birds, photographed in their natural surroundings with accompanying drawings.  There is also a section devoted to several flowers and shrubs which attract birds.  Lots of cool ideas and good inspiration.
