"I hope my work helps reveal the beauty that surrounds us everyday" ~ Glen Koide

Glen Koide - B.C. Canada
Home for Glen Koide has always been British Columbia, Canada. Glen's passion for photography has transplanted this avid photographer from Vancouver, B.C to the beautiful Okanagan Valley in the center of Canada's most western Province.

When asked about his photography Glen calmly explains,"I have always tried to appreciate the tiny details and moments that life sometimes passes by.  Photography is my way of sharing these moments with others.  I really enjoy discovering and sharing something wonderful that I never saw before.  From a skyscraper grabbing at the clouds to a single blade of grass casting a shadow on a fencepost, no subject is too big or too small.

Sometimes I don't even regard the subject; just seeing the way the colors and textures work together is enough for me to snap a photo".

"I now spend my time watching for those special moments, the way the sun brushes its light over its subjects, the way the wind erases footprints from a canvas of sand.  I hope my work helps reveal the beauty that surrounds us everyday".
Glen Koide has an instinctive eye for color and composition. Just as the traditional artist will create a painting, Glen uses his eye to frame his subjects. When asked how this came about he explains, "I've come a long way from taking photographs of landscapes and greenery during hiking treks and photographs of family and friends."

The Art Apprentice Online brings reference materials right to you in your studio...

Getting to remote locations is not always possible. Artists who paint from good reference materials are sure to develop a keen eye for 'seeing'. Observation skills become finely tuned to life as it happens around us.

Geography and location can make it difficult to collect good reference materials for the artist. Not every artist has easy access to the ocean, the mountains, or vineyards, certain types of flowers or wildlife can be difficult to find in the dead of winter. Nor do some artists have time to collect reference materials for developing still life or floral paintings.

The Art Apprentice Online is pleased to bring the materials right to you in your studio through collections of strong visuals on 'CD' to help you with your painting and designing needs. We are working with talented photographers to compile collections on individual subjects so you may study these materials and use them to enhance and build your compositional knowledge and requirements.

Reference materials come in many forms, books, the library and of course photographs for us to use.

These photographers will explore a wide range of subjects for the traditional artist. There will be something here for all artists regardless of your style. We will bring you materials for Floral, Landscapes, Still life, Seascapes, Wildlife and 'Theory' based materials that you may use in your study.

Individual collections of reference topics will be sold on CD. You may order your collections and they will be shipped within 3-5 days (via ground mail) to you anywhere in the world.
